William B. Gillette (1864–1937) was a Nova Scotia-born American artist best known for his detailed paintings and illustrations of game birds, fish, and sporting subjects. He was active in Troy, New York, where he developed a career as a painter and watercolorist after initially working as a bookkeeper. Gillette’s work combines close observation of wildlife with a strong understanding of landscape and natural environments, and he produced both fine-art paintings and graphic illustrations. His subjects included trout, bass, ducks, grouse, quail, and coastal scenes, reflecting the sporting and naturalist interests of his era.
