Edward Wilbur Dean Hamilton (1864–1943) was an American painter known for landscapes, portraits, and genre scenes, and an important figure in the Boston School of painting. He studied at the Massachusetts Normal Art School, at the Rhode Island School of Design under Tomasso Juglaris, and continued his training in Paris at the École des Beaux‑Arts. After returning to Boston in 1892, he maintained a studio on Boylston Street and exhibited at institutions such as the Boston Art Club and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Hamilton was a member of Boston’s Copley Society and the St. Botolph Club, both prominent arts organizations in the city. He taught at the Massachusetts Normal Art School for about fifty years and later ran a summer art school in Kingston, Massachusetts.
