Lawrence Kupferman
Lawrence Kupferman (1909–1982) was an American painter associated with modernist and abstract styles. Born in Boston, he studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and later taught there for many years. His work evolved from figurative painting to abstraction, often incorporating symbolic forms and expressive color. Kupferman exhibited widely and was involved with major Boston art institutions, including the Institute of Contemporary Art. He is recognized for his role in advancing modern art in Boston during the mid-20th century.
