John Chetcuti was born on the Mediterranean island of Malta. He traveled extensively, painting scenes from the Bahamas, Caribbean islands, Monhegan Island, and Cape Ann. He settled in Rockport, Massachusetts where he continued to paint and teach. He was an active member of the Rockport Art Association and the North Shore Arts Association.
