Henry Webster Rice
Henry Webster Rice, a distinguished watercolorist and educator, was born in Pownal, Maine, in 1853 and passed away in Watertown, Massachusetts, in 1934. By 1885, Rice began to study under Ross Sterling Turner. Later, he mentored Gertrude Beals Bourne, who drew inspiration from his explorations of Bermuda's architectural wonders and colorful landscapes. A cherished member of the Boston Society of Watercolor Painters, the Guild of Boston Artists, and the Boston Art Club, Rice's legacy endures through his extensive exhibition history and the presence of his notable works in esteemed institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Art Institute of Chicago.
