Gabrielle de Veaux Clements
Gabrielle de Veaux Clements (1858–1948) was an American painter, printmaker, and educator. She studied art in the United States and Europe, including at the École des Beaux‑Arts in Paris and with influential artists such as James Abbott McNeill Whistler. Clements exhibited widely in the U.S. and abroad, showing work at venues including the Paris Salon and major American art institutions. She taught at the Drexel Institute in Philadelphia and was active in artist organizations and women’s art societies. Clements is known for landscapes, still lifes, and figurative works in a refined, realistic style.
