Frank Henry Shapleigh studied painting at the Lowell Institute of Drawing and was active in New England, California, Florida, and Europe. In Europe, he studied in the studio of Emile Lambinet. He is best known for his White Mountain landscapes and spent 16 years as an artist in residence at the Crawford House in New Hampshire. He was a distinguished member of the Boston Art Club.
