Eugene Louis Boudin (1824-1898)
Eugène Louis Boudin (1824–1898) was a French painter associated with the Barbizon School and a pioneer of plein-air painting. Born in Honfleur, he is best known for his coastal scenes of Normandy, particularly beach and harbor views with figures. Boudin exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon and received a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1889. His atmospheric studies of sky and light were highly influential, notably encouraging the young Claude Monet to paint outdoors.
