Emma Fordyce MacRae
Emma Fordyce MacRae (1887–1974) was an American painter best known for her richly colored floral still lifes and landscapes. Born in New Jersey, she studied at the Art Students League of New York under notable instructors like William Merritt Chase. MacRae was a member of the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors and exhibited regularly at institutions such as the National Academy of Design and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She spent much of her career working in New York and New Jersey, often drawing inspiration from both urban and rural settings. Her work is recognized for its vibrant palette and bold brushwork, contributing to early 20th-century American modernism.
