Dwight Case Sturges


Dwight Case Sturges (1874–1940) was an American printmaker and etcher renowned for his finely detailed portraits, genre scenes, and urban landscapes. Born and based in Boston, he studied at the Cowles Art School and initially focused on oil painting before turning to etching around 1910. His work was widely exhibited, earning awards from the Chicago Society of Etchers and the Pan Pacific Exposition in San Francisco. Sturges was a member of several prestigious art organizations, including the American Federation of Arts and the Canadian Society of Etchers. His etchings are held in the collections of major institutions such as the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the National Gallery of Art, and the Delaware Art Museum.
