Anthony Thieme


Anthony Thieme (1888–1954) was a Dutch-born painter who studied in Europe before emigrating to the U.S. in the 1920s, where he worked in New York and later maintained studios in Rockport, Massachusetts, and St. Augustine, Florida. Known for his coastal scenes of boats, harbors, and fishermen, he also painted landscapes and city views, and founded the Thieme School of Art in Rockport. He was an active member of numerous art organizations and exhibited widely, earning many awards. His work is held in major museum collections and he is internationally recognized in numerous art reference publications.
